Community Conversation: The American Dream In-Person

What does the American Dream mean today? Has it changed—or has the way we pursue it changed?

Every summer, between Juneteenth and July 4th, communities across the country come together for Civic Season—a tradition that invites people to learn from history, reflect on our shared ideals, and engage in conversations that help shape the future of our democracy. In that spirit, join Braver Angels for a community conversation exploring how the American Dream is understood in our current moment. From economic opportunity and education to technology, work, and personal freedom, we’ll reflect on how our ideals have evolved, where we’ve fallen short, and how people are reimagining those values to fit the world we live in now. This gathering offers a welcoming space to share perspectives and listen with curiosity—no debate experience required.

The Braver Angels debate structure fosters a safe environment where people think together, listen to one another, and are open to being changed by ideas. This is a place where you can voice your opinions and connect with other people in the community that you agree—or even disagree—with.

The Community Conversation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 but arrive at 5:30 for food and fellowship. Catering for this event is generously provided by Wingshack.
